November 2020 Updates!
HAPPY POST-TURKEY DAY!
It's the day after Thanksgiving in the United States - and my god, what a tumultuous month this November has been - after a tumultuous October and a tumultuous 2020. TONS OF TUMULT FOR ALL.
I hope everyone reading this has a reason to be thankful, even after this wild year - I know the news about the vaccines on the horizon gives me hope that soonish, it'll all feel very different. But you don't subscribe to this newsletter for my (honestly kind of obvious) musings about the world situation - you come for news on my stuff! Teases! Exclusives! Updates! You know, the good kind of tumult. Awaaay.... we go!
THE HIGH REPUBLIC
STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC is almost here. It's so dang close. The official launch of the new era set hundreds of years before Episode 1 begins January 5, 2021 with the release of my novel LIGHT OF THE JEDI (alongside Justina Ireland's A Test Of Courage). That's just over a month away! The publicity machine has been ramping up, with lots of interviews, reveals, profiles, etc. You can see a lot of that over at the official High Republic landing page on StarWars.com.
More specifically with respect to my work, a huge preview of Light of the Jedi has been released - the first eight chapters, free for you to read! Check them out right here.
I've been getting a bunch of requests for signed copies of the novel - and so I'll be taking orders for a limited run of fifty (50) copies of Light of the Jedi through my webstore. These will include a signed, unique-to-this-release bookplate, and will be numbered 1 through 50. If you order one, please let me know if you'd like it personalized (and to whom), and if you would like a little doodle-sketch or a line of dialogue (in the biz, we call that a "remarque"). You can order that here.
The books will not ship until the official release of the novel on January 5, but it's still a nice holiday gift!
But the previews don't stop there! If you're itching to meet some of the High Republic's brave young heroes, you're in luck. StarWars.com released a preview of some of the High Republic Padwans!
If you're looking to meet some of the High Republic's villains, we also released a preview of The Nihil, the bad guys in The Light of The Jedi.
The five High Republic architects (Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, Daniel Jose Older, Cavan Scott and me) did a virtual panel for NYCC (also virtual, sadly) with a lot of great info, including the reveal that the famous, venerable, fan-favorite official SW magazine Star Wars Insider will finally begin publishing original fiction again - which will kick off with an all-new High Republic story written by me. It's basically a little preview to Light of the Jedi, almost like Chapter Zero of that book. Watch for it!
Man, it's been a busy few months in Star Wars land. The wonderful people at The Star Wars Book Club covered my Vader run a couple weeks ago! They also had me on as a guest to chat about the series, along with Paul Scheer and some other awesome folks. In other Star Wars comics news, the collected edition of "The Destiny Path", the first arc of my work on the Star Wars series for Marvel, drawn by Jesus Saiz and set directly after Empire Strikes Back, was just released and is available for purchase!
Finally, if you're into VR, the newly released Star Wars: Tales From Galaxy's Edge features a special scene that takes place during the High Republic era! They even got Frank Oz to reprise the role of Yoda. Check out the trailer below!
